Women's Basketball Coaches Association Proposals

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has two new proposals (Nos. 2004-142 and No. 2004-146) that will drastically reduce recruiting and access to student-athletes by eliminating Spring and Fall events for college coaches evaluations. These proposals, should they pass during the January 8th, 2005 meeting will effect all of our teams, programs, and most of all female student-athletes.  (Click here for letter from WBCA) Once you've reviewed the letter and if you disagree with these proposals and the changes they will bring, please contact any college coaches to express your displeasure. Should these measures pass at least 80% of your players will be negatively effected as their chances of being exposed to college coaches will be minimal compared to the current calendar. Once passed, it will be next to impossible to get reversed. We are already seeing the detriment to boys basketball that these measures have caused when the recruiting calendar was changed. Please take this matter seriously, it will absolutely effect the future of female student-athletes as well as your program.
