- The organizers of the 14th Annual Don Kelso State Farm/Closet Maid
Forest Lady Cat Holiday Basketball Tournament have the dream matchup
they wanted for the tournament championship game.
Sylvia Fowles, a 6-foot-5 post player, scored 17 points and grabbed 14
rebounds to lead Class 3A, No. 1 Miami Gulliver Prep past Class 6A, No.
8 Orlando Boone 44-36 in the tournament semifinals, which sets up a
battle of No. 1 teams tonight at 7:30 in the tournament finals against
Class 4A's top squad Winter Haven (13-0).
Fowles, an early signee with LSU and regarded as the top player in the
nation, scored 11 of her points in the second half and the Raiders
forced Boone (8-3) into missing their first 12 shots of the second half.
The loss drops Boone into the third-place game at 5:45 p.m. against
Tallahassee Florida High (10-4).

WINTER HAVEN 49, FLORIDA HIGH 36. Amber Smith scored 12 points
and LaQweesha Gamble added 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Blue Devils
bounced the Seminoles.
Myah Clayton scored 13 points to lead Florida High and Gigi
Thomas scored 10.
Winter Haven forced 30 turnovers and held the Seminoles to 15-of-47
shooting.
