Spring Shootout Rules

Age Groups:
10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U,
17U. -
Divisions 1, 2 and 3 for boys
and 1 and 2 for girls. Tournament registrations may dictate that we
have to combine divisions and this decision will be made after the
tournament deadline. -
Ball Specifications -
Girls 28.5" and
Boys official size.

Length
of Games: As specified by YBOA Rules.

There
will be no :30 second shot clock. There is a :10
second back court violation. -
Awards presentation will include trophies for 1st,
2nd, 3rd and
4th place finish
teams. -
Rules of Play -
National High School Federation Rules apply.

Coach's Attire - All coaches will wear long pants or dress shorts, shirts
with collars, and dress or basketball/tennis shoes. Casual (basketball or athletic)
shorts and/or “cut off” shorts, warm-up suits, t-shirts, hats, jeans and open-toed shoes
(sandals, flip flops, etc.) are not permitted. Collarless shirts with sleeves that display a team’s
colors with mascot, logo, etc. are acceptable.

Running Clock -
At the time one team gains a lead of thirty (30)
or more points on opposing team, the clock will not be
stopped (except for a time out) until the trailing team brings the
point difference to twenty points or less.

Technical fouls - When a technical foul is called
play resumes where it justify off. After the technical is shot, the ball
is returned to the team that had possession at the time of foul.

Protests
-
Any protest must be communicated immediately to the site director.
Protest must be submitted in writing and be accompanied by a $100.00
protest fee to the tournament director. The tournament director may
have a committee assigned to handle protests or can make the decision.
The tournament directors’ decision is final. Protests must be
completed before the next scheduled game. The protest fee will be
returned if the protest is upheld. Protests pertaining to an official’s judgment call will not be
considered.

The home team is the first team listed in the pool or on
top of the bracket and wears light uniforms. The visitor team is the
second team listed in the pool or on the bottom of the bracket and wears
dark uniforms.

Team's
statistician and/or scorers are not allowed to sit at the official scorer's table.

Only eligible players plus a maximum of
three (3) coaches may be on the team's bench.
-
Each team
will be responsible for bringing their own balls. Equipment
such as tape, towels,
etc., should be furnished by teams. Locker rooms will not be
available for team use. Tallahassee Comets is not responsible for
lost items.

Teams must
clean their bench area after each game.
-
Teams
should report to gym 30 minutes prior to their scheduled game times and
be ready to play 5 minutes after previous game has ended.
Game
time is forfeit time.
No
bouncing balls in gym during games or in general access areas.
