Fundamental Skill Instruction and Player Development

The primary goal of Comets Basketball is to increase the level of performance for both individual players and organized teams through a multi-step approach.  Players have the opportunity to learn through a variety of teaching methods including team practices, skills clinics, summer camps, group workouts and private training.  Please email tallycomets@gmail.com to inquire about setting up private lessons and/or team training.

About Our Clinics, Camps & Training
 
Our Clinics, Camps and Training Programs have three objectives:  Train, Condition and Develop.  Comets Basketball believe these three aspects are the core building blocks of a complete basketball player.  These programs use intense, skill building drills and advanced teaching methods to fundamentally develop all players.  Our clinics and camp are not your typical clinics and camps, we provide the following:
  • Breaks down every aspect of the basketball game in progressive form.
  • Has an experienced, eager staff ready to teach.
  • Always keeps low player-to-instructor ratios.
  • Teaches the game of basketball in a safe and structured environment.
  • Adds energy and innovation to the game of basketball.
  • Uses intense, fundamental drill work to motivate players to improve his or her game
Private Lessons

Private training includes 1-1 and semi-group instruction for all aspects of the game. Skills include shooting mechanics, offensive and defensive footwork, basic fundamentals and any other needs. There is a strong focus on Footwork and Still Development with Speed/Agility incorporated into drills. Players typically use private training once a week to improve skills. The cost of private training is $65 per hour (1 player) and $40 per hour (2-4 players). Payments can be made on-line at this website.

Team Training

Team training includes work on all aspects of the game in a team setting. Examples of training include individual mechanics, team sets, and team drills both in the full court and half court setting. Skills include shooting mechanics, offensive and defensive footwork, basic fundamentals and any other needs. There is a strong focus on Footwork and Still Development with Speed/Agility incorporated into drills. The cost of team training is $150 per hour (team number cannot exceed 12 players). Payments can be made on-line at this website or we can provide an invoice.

Meet Our Trainers

Chariya Davis is a 1999 graduate of the University of Central Florida where she is a member of the UCF Hall of Fame, holding virtually every statistical record at UCF. From college, Chariya played professional basketball in Finland and with the National Women’s Basketball League. Following her professional basketball career, Chariya has established herself as a strong head basketball coach with over 10 years of coaching experience in high school and AAU club basketball with boys and girls. Currently, Chariya is the girls head basketball coach at Rickards High School in Tallahassee where she performs daily operational functions of the basketball program, organize team practices and strategies for games, review basic fundamentals and skills of basketball, review academic progress monitoring, develop and manage financial budget, organize fundraising opportunities, organize team schedule and travel, and organize and implement individual skill development. Chariya not only specializes in developing player character but building self-discipline and commitment as well. Also, she helps manage and organize summer basketball camps.

Rick Davis is a graduate of Florida A&M University where he played collegiate basketball.  From college, Rick played professional basketball in Italy and Venezuela.  Following his professional basketball career, Rick has established a strong head basketball coaching career with over 18 years at the middle and high school levels.  Currently, Rick is the head boys basketball coach at Leon High School in Tallahassee where he performs daily operational functions of the basketball program, organizes team practices and strategies for games, reviews basic fundamentals/skills of basketball, reviews academic progress monitoring, organizes team schedule and travel and schedules individual workouts.  Rick specializes in developing player character, self-discipline, and commitment.  Rick organizes and manages annual summer basketball camps.
